Keep thoes threads as local as your food.... Find a fiber farmer, spinner, breeder and follow that sheep, alpaca,bunny etc to the final product.....We've got the grow your own food thing down, what about raising your own fiber?<br /><br />Alpaca fiber has amazing and endless characteristics: it wicks moisture, keeps you cool on hot days and warm on cool days.....perfect for sweaters, hats, duvets and agriculture material. Some people have been known to start seedlings in it. Also- its not as itchy or scratchy as wool. Wool contains lanolin which requires harsh chemicals to extract during the processing. Most people are allergic to this chemical which causes the itch, its actually not the wool. Alpcaca fiber is ecologically sound.<br /><br />Not to mention, endless possibilites and skills you can acquire while spinning, knitting, felting, dying the products.<br /><br /> Spin on that for a while......Enjoy your winter!
